NICRODUR 400 is a high-alloy, wear-resistant steel primarily composed of carbon (up to 0.25%), manganese (1.50-2.50%), chromium (0.80-1.50%), molybdenum (0.30-0.60%), along with other trace elements. Its mechanical properties boast a minimum hardness of 400 HB (Brinell), tensile strength between 1100 and 1300 MPa, and an elongation of 12% over 8 inches. The alloy’s impressive strength and superior abrasion resistance make it ideal for challenging and high-stress conditions, ensuring longevity and performance in applications where standard steels might wear out too quickly.
